BASAMMA

Basamma was 5 months old and was diagnosed with Bilateral Retinoblastoma. She was recommended for chemotherapy and the first cycle was administered. However, for some unforeseen/compelling reason not known to Iksha Foundation, the parents failed to follow –up on the treatment. By constant efforts by Iksha, the parents reverted back in Sep’16. This time the case had deteriorated. The tumor had proliferated into both eyes. The infant was then subjected to an increased dosage of chemotherapy commensurate with the age. After administering three cycles of chemo both her eyes were enucleated on 7th Dec 2016. She is now on yearly follow-up.
