Hithika has hurt her right eye while playing in October 2017. Ophthalmologists consulted prescribed eye drops. Parents noticed a white reflex in the same eye within a few days’ time but ignored thinking it could be due to the earlier incident. They visited an eye care hospital in Kolar in December 2017 as her eye was swollen. MRI was done, and she was diagnosed with Unilateral Retinoblastoma. They visited Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore immediately as suggested on 5th December 2017. Her right eye had been enucleated on the 6th December 2017 due to the advanced tumor. She further received 6 cycles of chemotherapy and recovering well. She is now on yearly follow-up.
