JISAN ALAM
Month and Year of Birth: June 2020
Jisan Alam 1-year-old boy from Bihar was diagnosed with Bilateral Retinoblastoma when he was 4 months old. Father notice a white reflex in Jisan’s eye but his mother ignored it saying it is some allergy and will be alright if they use eye drops. But after a few days, the white reflex became very obvious and easily visible. So they took him to an eye specialist in Bihar and were diagnosed him with eye cancer. They were immediately referred to CFS Hyderabad. They came to Hyderabad in Oct’2020 and started the treatment for the child. Jisan received 9 cycles of chemotherapy and focal therapy. As the tumor is still active, there is a plan for enucleation of his left eye and continued treatment with focal laser and chemo if required. Parents stayed back in Hyderabad as it was difficult to travel from Bihar all the time. As the tumor is responding well to the treatment, the doctor is decided not to enucleate the eye. They will continue with chemo and laser therapy.
