When Kartik was 5 months old, his parents noticed a white reflex in his eye in a picture taken on his mobile. Coincidently, in the same week, dad read an article on Retinoblastoma in one of the newspapers. They immediately consulted an ophthalmologist. MRI was done and the child was diagnosed with unilateral Retinoblastoma. The affected eye had been enucleated post 6 cycles of Chemotherapy to avoid spread beyond the eye. A custom-made prosthesis had been implanted to ensure social acceptance. He is now an active kid enjoying his daily routine without frequent visits to the hospitals for treatment.
