In April 2018, her parents noticed that she was unable to see through one eye and they consulted a doctor. A white reflex was noticed by the doctor during an examination. They visited HV Desai as suggested by the doctor. She was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma and had 6 cycles of Chemotherapy and laser treatment every 6 weeks. She received a few more cycles of Chemotherapy to treat re-surfaced tumor grains. Karthiki is doing good now and is on 3 monthly follow up. She has no vision in the left eye and moderate vision in the right eye.
